The Indian Splendor – Maharaja’s Express tour onboard the Maharajas Express has given a new meaning of luxury train travel in India. It has sought inspiration for its splendid exteriors and luxurious interiors. From the personal railway coaches once used by the Maharajas of India. Its awe-inspiring interiors and lavish hospitality creates an aura of unparalled royalty.

The train journey begins from Safdarjung Railway Station New Delhi on a week-long run through Rajasthan every Wednesday night. With a trip inbuilt to Agra, home to the iconic Taj Mahal. Turban-wearing stewards take over from the moment you arrive at the platform. Assigning you your couples and detailing all the facilities that are on board. The train moves by night and arrives each morning at a new destination where new experiences wait for you.

Itinerary

Day 1: Delhi - Agra

  • 2030 hrs: Arrival at Safdarjung Railway Station and complete check-in formalities. Enjoy a traditional welcome.
  • 2130 hrs: Enjoy dinner on board.
  • 2200 hrs: The Maharajas’ Express Train departs for Agra.
Day 2: Agra
  • 0700 hrs: Arrive at Agra. Disembark for a sightseeing tour of The Taj Mahal, one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
  • 0945 hrs: Champagne breakfast at Taj Khema’s rooftop restaurant.
  • 1045 hrs: Later return to the Maharaja’s Express. You also have an option to explore Itmad-ud-Daulah’s Tomb Or Fatehpur Sikri.
  • 1300 hrs: Have lunch onboard.
  • 1430 hrs: After lunch, proceed on a sightseeing tour of Agra Fort Or you can visit a luxury hotel for a relaxing spa session. The other option is to opt for a private shopping tour.
  • 1800 hrs: Return to the comforts of the Maharajas’ Express Or watch Mohhabat- The Taj Show to witness the love story of Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan and his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal.
  • 2000 hrs: Enjoy dinner on board Maharaja’s Express
  • 2045 hrs: The train departs for Sawai Madhopur.
    • Day 3: Ranthambore - Jaipur
  • 0630 hrs: Arrival at Sawai Madhopur. Post onboard breakfast, enjoy morning safari at the Ranthambore National Park.
  • 0930 hrs: Return to the train.
  • 1150 hrs: The train chugs off towards Jaipur, the ‘Pink City’ of Rajasthan. Savor Lunch in the train.
  • 1340 hrs: Arrival at Jaipur.
  • 1430 hrs: De-board the train to explore the prime tourist attractions of Jaipuir. Visit the Jantar Mantar Observatory or enjoy a relaxing spa session at a popular a palace hotel Or Visit to mighty Amer Fort on city’s outskirts or go for a Private shopping tour at the popular bazaars.
  • 1745 hrs: In the evening, move to City Palace/Jai Mahal Palace for an exclusive Elephant Activity organized for you where you can choose to partake in painting them, feeding them or partaking in a joy ride. This is followed by a special dinner.
  • 2130 hrs: Back onboard the Maharaja’s Express.
  • 2300 hrs: Train leaves for Bikaner. Overnight stay onboard.
    • Day 4: Bikaner
  • 0800 hrs: Have breakfast onboard.
  • 1000 hrs: Arrival at Bikaner. You can spend relaxing moments onboard. The other option is to go for a visit to the Lalgarh Museum Or Deshnok (the Rat Temple)
  • 1300 hrs: Enjoy lunch on board the Maharaja’s Express
  • 1400 hrs: Proceed for a sightseeing tour of Junagarh Fort
  • 1600 hrs: Leave for the Sand Dunes to enjoy a memorable sunset view. On the way, halt at Gajner Palace for High tea.
  • 2015 hrs: Return onboard the Maharajas’ Express.
  • 2100 hrs: The train chugs off for the next destination, Jodhpur. Stay aboard overnight.
    • Day 5: Jodhpur
  • 0730 hrs: Enjoy breakfast on board Maharaja’s Express. The train arrives Jodhpur.
  • 0915 hrs: Morning is at leisure. Either you may spend time on-board Or may opt for a tour to the Bishno village (if time permits) Or you can also have a relaxing spa session at a luxury hotel of Jodhpur.
  • 1230 hrs: Back to the train for lunch on-board
  • 1430 hrs: Post lunch, de-board and get all set to visit the splendid Mehrangarh Fort. Later, embark on a walking tour of the Old Clock Tower Market Or you can explore the wonderful collection of artifacts and objects at the Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum and then visit Jaswant Thada Or you can also visit the popular local bazaars for a private shopping tour.
  • 1730 hrs: In the evening, enjoy an exclusive Royal cocktail evening with cultural performance (puppet show) at Hanwant Mahal. The specially-organized event is followed by fireworks
  • 2015 hrs: Return onboard the comfort of the Maharaja’s Express
  • 2200 hrs: The train begins its journey for the ‘City of Lake’, Udaipur. Overnight stay on board.
    • Day 6: Udaipur
  • 0800 hrs: Enjoy breakfast on board Maharaja’s Express
  • 1000 hrs: Arrive in Udaipur. Disembark the train for a boat ride on the placid waters of Lake Pichola. Boating is followed by a visit to the City Palace and Crystal Gallery, home to a wonderful collection of glassware from all around the globe.
  • 1345 hrs: Savor a special lunch at Satkar Hall of Fateh Prakash Palace or at Jagmandir Palace.
  • 1500 hrs: In the afternoon, you can get back aboard the train for a relaxing time Or can visiting the local bazaars for shopping Or can enjoy Light and Sound Show (if time permits).
  • 2000 hrs: Enjoy dinner onboard as the train chugs off for Balasinor. Overnight on-board.
    • Day 7: Balasinor
  • 0630 hrs: Enjoy breakfast on board Maharaja’s Express
  • 0800 hrs: Train arrives at Sevalia Railway Station
  • 0815 hrs: Disembark from the train and go for a tour of the Dinosaur Fossil Park. This is followed by a walking tour to the village.
  • 1100 hrs: Proceed for exploring the Garden Palace, Balasinor. It is the official residence of the royal family of the region.
  • 1140 hrs: Enjoy a grand traditional welcome at here, followed by a specially organized lunch that would be hosted by the Royal Family of Balasinor.
  • 1445 hrs: Return to the train
  • 1515 hrs: In the afternoon, the train starts its journey for the ‘City of Dreams’, Mumbai
  • 2000 hrs: Enjoy a cultural event followed by dinner. Return to the train for overnight stay.
    • Day 8: Mumbai
  • 0700 hrs: Enjoy breakfast on board Maharaja’s Express
  • 0815 hrs: The train arrives at Mumbai Lokmanya Tilak Terminus
  • 0830 hrs: Disembark the train and bid adieu to the Maharajas’ Express
